Therefore in this they clearly oppose to Trump's ideas, making him out to be some sort of clown. As they've took a scene from the Simpsons, and Homer says 'Doh', he is speaking for the country as a whole, making it out to be a joke of an election and that his status of President isn't justified, coming across as a huge mistake from the americans. With the change in slogan at the bottom 'America you can be my ex wife', it shows how they feel about the election, stating that he is going to tear USA apart in the immediate future.
With this article, the independent are deeming Trump to be a one man empire, hence they photoshopped his face onto the empire state. Even though this newspaper is slightly left wing, seemingly they believe that Trumps election may be a rather successful one as opposed to various other articles.
